I've already been travelling for two weeks now, and there's so much to tell. But I'll start with telling you what I'm doing this semester:
I finished my teacher studies in June, and now I'm attending a travel/culture program that will last until Christmas. We're a class of 20 students. Some are studying things like drama, journalism or music and wanted to have a semester outside of Norway, and others are finished with their studies, like me, and just want to have some fun before they go looking for a job. We had an introduction week at the Volda University College in August, and two weeks later we were on our way to Australia. Leaving was quite hard for me for two major reasons: I just got a brand new boyfriend who stays at home, and my grandpa was dying. He died while I was on the last plane from Hong Kong to Brisbane. I've totally lost the number of times I cried during my last days in Norway and my first days in Australia, because of stress, nerves, sorrow, happiness, homesickness and everything else at the same time. Before I left, my boyfriend, friends and family were a great support to me, and now in Australia I find that a lot of people in my class care too. Thank you!

And this is the closest we got to Hong Kong while we were at the airport there. We
saw skyscrapers like this for miles and miles and miles from the
airplane!
Overtired classmates having fun at the airport in Hong Kong:
The trip from my hometown to Brisbane took 56 hours. One night in a hotel, four planes and many long hours of waiting at every airport. I didn't look forward to it at all, but it went ok, and now I'm here! We stayed in nice apartments in Brisbane the four first nights. We got to know the city, and we met the teachers at Griffith University who are going to follow us this semester. I think I like them so far. They're going to teach us about indigenous Australian culture, environmental issues facing Australia, globalization and multiculturalism, history and politics of Vietnam and much more.

And this is me and my famous red backpack:
The 21st of October we'll all be off to Vietnam for two weeks. Looking forward! We have to go back to Brisbane after Vietnam for some final interviews with one of the teachers, and for a goodbye dinner with everyone who has participated. But it's not goodbye yet, it just means that we don't have to go to lectures in Brisbane anymore. This is were the real traveling starts! Some people in my class have everything planned, but I haven't at all. It doesn't really matter where I go, as long as I get to see something that's different from Norway. I'd love to see countries like New Zealand, Thailand, Nepal, Japan, China. The only Asian country I've visited is India, so I don't feel that I have to go back when I've already seen much of it. Any ideas, anyone?
Ser frem til å følge bloggen videre, hilsen kjærsten din:)
