You got curious because of the title, right? I know that the word sex in news headlines attracts readers, and I don't say that I don't want readers, but I actually think it's a good description of what I saw in the rainforest last Monday. I felt that there was a lot of love in the air. Trees and branches make love by twisting themselves around each other like this. It's worth taking a closer look, because it's beautiful!:
Kym from Australia lived in my student town Volda, Norway for one semester in 2011, and that's where I got to know her. I didn't know that she lives in Brisbane, so it was a big surprise for me when she showed up at my class' welcoming lunch in the beginning of September. I got her number, and that's how I ended up in the rainforest. Kym took me and Harald (Norwegian friend who's looking for a job in Brisbane) to O'Reilly's Rainforest Retreat which is located on the western edge of World Heritage listed Lamington National Park. It's about two hours south of Brisbane.
On the way we went for some wine tasting at O'Reilley's Canungra Valley Wineyards. At 10.30 AM! We got to choose five wines from a list of eight white wines, six reds and two sweet dessert wines. Yummy! This family lived there, but I don't think they drink much wine:
After a VERY curvy road for about 45 minutes (I almost felt like vomiting, because I was in the back seat of the car) we went for a walk and saw lots of cool trees and stuff:
A hollow tree. Look, Harald is like a ghost:
Crazy tree top walk almost 20 metres above the ground:
Harald is afraid of heights, I'm not, but I think I was the one looking most scared, because I climbed even higher. Just look at this:
The view from the top:
I was extremely happy when I could feel solid ground under my feet again. Out of pure happiness I felt like hugging a tree, and so I did, but sadly enough without taking a picture. I think I still was shaking when Kym took this pic:
Enormous waterfall, 80 metres high! (meaning: I've seen better ones in Norway):
The last pics are not normal. We laughed a lot while taking them. One of the best days I've had in Australia so far, haha!:
Finished it all with waffles. Yummy yummy!:
Kym, thanks for making the waffles and taking us to a place you've seen a hundred times before. Hope you saw it in a new way this time :P Did you know that there is an article about the Tarzan yell on Wikipedia?
PS: Read Harald's blog here.
